Recognizing mumps

  Mumps is caused by the mumps virus. It occurs most often in children with a history of infectious contact. Bilateral parotid gland occurs simultaneously or sequentially. The parotid gland is enlarged centered on the earlobe, with unclear borders, no significant increase in local skin temperature, tough and elastic texture, and tenderness (+). There is no redness or swelling at the mouth of the parotid ducts. There was fever. There is an increase in leukocytes, with a predominance of lymphocytes. Treatment: Self-healing is possible.  Anti-viral and anti-inflammatory (to prevent acute orchitis or ovaritis).  2. Bed rest.  3. Strengthen nutrition.  4. Avoid eating acidic foods that stimulate parotid cell edema.  5. Isolation.
