Hand scratched by the cat skin to be tight

Hand scratched by a cat is usually recommended that the patient go to a community hospital or regular hospital outpatient clinic, etc. for rabies vaccination. However, if the cat has been vaccinated against animals and there is no active bleeding from the wound, there is no need to worry too much. Cats are also one of the animal hosts of rabies virus and if bitten or scratched by them, they are at risk of rabies virus infection. If the patient’s skin damage scratched by the cat is mild, with only broken skin and no obvious bleeding symptoms, and the cat has been vaccinated against the animal, then local rinsing with alternating vigorous iodine, hydrogen peroxide, and saline, and local coverage with sterile gauze is sufficient, and the symptoms can be completely relieved after 3-5 days. However, if the patient’s skin is more severely broken, accompanied by active bleeding, and the specific immunization status of the cat is unknown, it is necessary to promptly go to a regular hospital or community hospital for rabies vaccination to prevent rabies virus. In addition, attention should be paid to wound care, keeping the skin dry and clean, avoiding water, etc.
