How is trigeminal neuralgia surgery done?

If a wire is pressed against another object, the prolonged pressure can cause its insulation to wear away and lead to a short circuit. Like electrical wires, many trigeminal neuralgia is caused by a similar but complex neurophysiological change that occurs when the nerve is compressed by an adjacent blood vessel.         Trigeminal neuralgia microvascular decompression: Microsurgical techniques are applied to remove the blood vessels compressing the trigeminal nerve and place decompression material between the nerve and the blood vessels to achieve the disappearance of facial pain after surgery. This decompressive surgery does not cut the nerve, preserves the integrity and physiological function of the trigeminal nerve, and preserves facial sensation after surgery.
