Can wine disinfect?

Although wine generally cannot be disinfected, the concentration of alcoholic beverages available on the market is usually less than 65%, which is insufficient to achieve the desired effect of killing bacteria and pathogenic microorganisms, and can only be applied temporarily in place of alcohol when there is a lack of disinfectant drugs around. The concentration of medical alcohol used clinically is usually 70%-75%, at which time the alcohol can penetrate into the body of bacteria, causing bacterial protein coagulation and producing bactericidal effects. If the concentration of alcohol is lower than 70%, it cannot achieve the role of coagulation of bacterial proteins and cannot kill bacteria. If the concentration exceeds 75% or even reaches 100%, the coagulation effect of alcohol is stronger, which can make the protein on the surface of bacteria coagulate rapidly and form an envelope to prevent alcohol from penetrating into the bacteria, which cannot kill the bacteria, but can protect them. It is usually not recommended to use drinkable alcohol for wound disinfection, because the main components of drinkable alcohol, in addition to ethanol, also contains sugar and other nutrients, disinfection of wounds due to the wine may be stored in the wound, internal nutrients can lead to rapid growth and reproduction of unkilled bacteria, easy to cause wound infection and inflammation. If you do not have alcohol in your life, you can also use chlorine-containing disinfectant solutions for disinfection, such as 84 disinfectant solution, which is more effective in killing pathogenic microorganisms, and choose iodophor or saline for wound disinfection.
