Children with pneumonia usually do not have recurrent fever for a few days

The duration of fever in pediatric pneumonia cannot be generalized and usually returns to normal in about 5-7 days. In the case of severe pneumonia, the fever may recur for more than 7 days or even up to 15 days. Fever is the main clinical manifestation of pediatric pneumonia, and the degree and type of fever varies with age and etiology of the pneumonia. With timely and targeted treatment, children usually return to normal in about 5-7 days. If the child is not treated promptly and develops heavy pneumonia, fever symptoms may recur for up to 7 days or even more than 15 days. If a child has a fever that exceeds 38.5°C, active cooling measures, including physical cooling and medication, should be taken. In addition, appropriate antibiotics or antiviral drugs need to be selected for treatment depending on the type of pneumonia. In addition, the child’s condition needs to be closely observed during pneumonia, and in case of extreme irritability, shortness of breath, or even convulsions, the child should be promptly brought to the hospital for emergency treatment.
