Heart failure refers to a syndrome of cardiac insufficiency caused by various heart diseases, and belongs to the category of heart failure, palpitation, palpitation, edema, wheezing, phlegm, and heart paralysis in Chinese medicine, and its name is unified as “heart failure disease”. Western medicine believes that the basic cause of heart failure is primary myocardial damage and cardiac overload. Patients with underlying heart disease are often triggered by certain factors that increase the load on the heart. Such as infection, arrhythmia, overexertion, etc. According to Chinese medicine, the causes of heart failure include congenital deficiency, external invasion, emotional and internal injuries, coughing for a long time, and physical failure in old age. Heart failure can be divided into acute and chronic heart failure. The main clinical manifestation of chronic heart failure is congestion, followed by insufficient perfusion of peripheral tissues. Acute heart failure can be sudden or acute exacerbation of existing chronic heart failure. The symptoms are acute pulmonary edema and cardiogenic shock. Acute pulmonary edema is characterized by sudden onset of severe shortness of breath, seated breathing, coughing up foamy sputum, or in severe cases, coughing up large amounts of pink foamy sputum. Cardiogenic shock is characterized by blurred consciousness, cold and clammy skin, pale face, and cyanosis of the extremities and lips. Treatment should be based on evidence. Chronic heart failure in the stable stage should be tonified by benefiting Qi, nourishing Yin or warming Yang. Acute heart failure should benefit Qi, warm Yang, invigorate blood and promote diuresis. In critical conditions, the main treatment should be to save Yin and consolidate the deficiency and return Yang to save the rebellion.
