Do you need to be hospitalized for laser treatment of fundus hemorrhage?

Laser treatment of fundus hemorrhage does not require hospitalization and can be done on an outpatient basis. Laser treatment of fundus hemorrhage can be divided into whole retinal photocoagulation and local retinal photocoagulation depending on the condition. Local retinal photocoagulation can be done in a single visit to the retinal clinic. The procedure is to dilate the pupil sufficiently with tropicamide and then apply surface anesthetics 4-5 times, then local retinal photocoagulation is feasible. Total retinal photocoagulation treatment requires 4 sessions, with weekly treatment as described above for local retinal photocoagulation. Laser treatment of fundus hemorrhage is commonly used clinically for diabetic retinopathy, ischemic central retinal vein obstruction and branch vein obstruction.
