Usually, the delivery time for a second child is faster than for a first child, and some people can deliver the same day. However, some women take longer to deliver due to their different body types. When a pregnant woman is unable to go into labor on her own after reaching her due date or full term, she can be induced by methods such as intravenous oxytocin, which is mostly given in 1-2 days after the injection. In the case of a second pregnancy, it usually takes effect very quickly. The exact time of delivery varies from person to person due to the different body types and sensitivity to oxytocin. If the cervix is mature, soft and centrally located, the sensitivity to oxytocin is relatively high and some pregnant women with second pregnancy can deliver within a few hours after oxytocin injection. In contrast, for pregnant women with immature cervix, hard softness, anterior or posterior opening and poor tolerance of the cervical opening, the sensitivity of oxytocin is relatively low, which may even lead to failure of oxytocin induction of labor and longer delivery time. In the process of drug administration, it is necessary to closely observe the labor process to prevent uterine rupture. If pregnant women with obvious cephalopelvic disproportion or fetal malposition, or patients with a history of cesarean section or uterine fibroid surgery, it is not recommended to use oxytocin to induce labor, and if there are special circumstances, it should be used under close monitoring under the guidance of doctors.
