Can steatorrhea heal on its own?

Steatorrhea usually does not heal on its own.
Steatorrhea occurs because of abnormalities in the metabolism of fat and impairment in the digestion and absorption of fat in the body, and can be caused by intestinal diseases or liver and gallbladder diseases such as cholecystitis, gallstones and chronic hepatitis. Cholecystitis and gallstones cause steatorrhea because the gallbladder cavity is obstructed and bile is not drained properly to aid digestion and absorption in the small intestine; chronic hepatitis also causes steatorrhea because the liver is impaired and does not produce enough bile.
Therefore, steatorrhea is not self-healing and must be treated for the original cause and removed before it can be relieved.
