Are plantar warts contagious to others?

Plantar warts are a disease caused by a viral infection that can be transmitted to others. Plantar warts are formed when the human papilloma virus infects the keratin of the skin on the soles of the feet, resulting in localized thickening, roughness, and pain when squeezed or irritated. The disease is transmitted from patients and healthy carriers, mainly through direct or indirect contact. The virus enters the epithelial cells (especially the basal cells) through small breaks in the skin and mucous membranes and replicates and proliferates, leading to abnormal differentiation and proliferation of the epithelial cells and causing benign epithelial hyperplasia. It is a common disease in the population, and immunocompromised and traumatized people are more susceptible to it. The normal people should protect themselves, change shoes and socks diligently, and go to public places or foot baths to reduce the risk of spreading the disease.
