Leakage of pancreatic-enteric anastomosis after pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic tumor or bile duct cancer is the most common postoperative complication and the leading cause of postoperative infection and bleeding or even death of patients. The latest issue of the American Journal of investigative surgery published an article by Dr. Tao Li, deputy chief of the Department of General Surgery, Qilu Hospital, Shandong University. The article introduces a simple and safe pancreatico-intestinal anastomosis, the pancreatic jejunal sleeve U-shaped interlocking suture technique. This technique can significantly simplify the steps of pancreatic-enteric anastomosis, reduce the time of anastomosis, and most importantly, significantly reduce the incidence of pancreatic-enteric anastomotic leakage and infected bleeding, reduce the complications and mortality of patients, and shorten the hospital stay and hospital expenses.
