Fatty grains on the face may be caused by diseases such as cornus, acne, and hidradenitis suppurativa. The causes of some diseases are unknown, some are related to sebaceous glands with exuberant secretion, etc., and some may be related to heredity and other factors, as described below:
1. Corns: Corns are a kind of idiopathic benign disease of skin appendages, the cause of which is not known and may be related to heredity and secondary to certain other diseases. It is mainly characterized by hard, yellowish-white papules distributed on the face, mainly around the eyelids, cheeks and forehead. Typical lesions are 1~2mm in diameter, multiple, not fused, and can be extruded with white keratinous granular material.
2. Acne: It is the most common skin disease in dermatology, occurring in adolescent men and women. It is a chronic inflammation of the sebaceous glands of the hair follicles and occurs in areas rich in sebaceous glands. The occurrence of this disease is related to various reasons (e.g. excessive secretion of androgens, eating oily food, staying up late, etc.) such as excessive secretion of sebaceous glands, hyperkeratosis of follicular sebaceous gland openings, and infection by Propionibacterium acnes.
3. Sweat duct tumor: Sweat duct tumor is a benign tumor of the skin appendages, which is essentially a kind of adenoma of the ducts of small sweat glands in the epidermis. The cause of the disease is not known, may be related to genetic factors, mainly in young women, often in the eyelids around the symmetrical distribution of yellowish flat papules, appear similar to the symptoms of “fat grain”.
There may be other diseases that cause fat grains on the face, so it is recommended that patients go to the hospital in a timely manner and receive targeted treatment after the cause of the disease is identified under the guidance of the doctor.
