Medicines to ease the liver and nourish the stomach include Yueju Boho Pills, Shu Liver and Stomach Pills, and Qi Stagnation Stomach Pain Granules. The medication should be used according to the doctor’s prescription. 1. Yueju Boho Pill: It has the effect of soothing the liver and relieving depression, eliminating food and opening the stomach. It is used for the treatment of stagnation of qi and depression, inversion of satiety (not feeling full after eating, but feeling bloated and indigestible after a while), cacophony (a feeling similar to hunger, emptiness with burning in the stomach), dyspepsia, chest and abdominal distension and pain. The adverse reactions and contraindications of this product are not clear. 2. Shu Liver and Stomach Pill: It has the effect of inducing stagnation and harmonizing the middle, dredging the liver and opening up depression. It can be used for the symptoms of fullness in the chest and hypochondrium (the area of chest and ribs), distension and pain in the stomach and epigastrium caused by the disharmony between the liver and stomach (the disharmony between the function of the liver ascending and the function of the stomach descending), acid swallowing (swallowing of the acid in the stomach which is upwardly charged to the mouth and pharynx), vomiting and constipation of bloating and abdominal distension. The adverse effects of this drug are not clear, and it is contraindicated in pregnant women. 3. Qi Stagnation Stomach Pain Granules: It has the effect of soothing the liver and regulating qi, relieving pain and harmonizing the stomach. It is used in treating liver stagnation and stagnation of qi (poor qi and blood transportation of the liver, emotional depression), chest distension and fullness, stomach and epigastric pain. The adverse effects of this product are not clear, pregnant women should be cautious. 4. Gastric Su Granules: It has the effect of regulating qi and eliminating flatulence (rationalizing qi, eliminating distension and fullness), harmonizing the stomach and relieving pain. It is mainly used for treating qi stagnation-type stomach and epigastric pain. The symptoms include distension and pain in the stomach and epigastric region, which spreads to both hypochondriums. It is relieved by belching (burping) or farting, and aggravated by emotional depression. Those with chest tightness, poor appetite, poor bowel movement and chronic gastritis with the above symptoms. Dry mouth, noisy and other discomforts may occur after taking the product, and is contraindicated in pregnant women. Patients are advised to use the medicine under the guidance of a doctor.
