I often get calls from friends and am asked what to do when I have a cold. Because the prescription is not very convenient, so often introduce some proprietary Chinese medicine for friends to eat, most often a medicine and cure. Now make a summary of these things, I hope it will be helpful to everyone.
First of all, what is a cold, everyone thinks it is a viral bacterial infection, but I would like to say, “flies do not bite seamless eggs”. First of all, it’s your own internal disorder that makes viruses and bacteria come to you. If you compare the human body to a house, there will be garbage produced every day, which can normally be excreted by way of stool, urine and sweating. When this garbage can’t be excreted, viral bacteria will infect us, and our organism will excrete the garbage by catching a cold this way.
Just ask, if the garbage in our house has bugs, do we spray disinfectant to kill the bugs or clean up the garbage. Antibiotics are disinfectants, and our body’s ability to heal itself is the ability to remove the garbage from our bodies. Our body’s ability to remove the waste from our body by sweating and defecating is the essence of healing. Understanding this, we can know the mistake of using antibiotics or even infusion whenever we have a cold.
So, do we fight hard when we have a cold? Yes, Westerners just drink more water and sleep more when they have a cold. They are very cautious about applying antibiotics and must have a doctor’s prescription, otherwise antibiotics are harder to get than drugs. As Chinese people, we are lucky that we have Chinese medicine available. Chinese medicine can help our organism to remove the waste from our body by sweating and defecating. Without garbage, viral bacteria naturally cannot grow. Therefore, the treatment of herbs not only treats the root of the cold, but also improves our constitution.
Treating cold and flu is the basic skill of a TCM doctor. Mr. Ni Haixia said, “If a physician can’t even cure a basic cold, how can he cure cancer?” Here, I just introduce you some simple methods of treating colds with proprietary Chinese medicines, and I hope that interested people will thus get started to learn more about Chinese medicine.
First of all, let me introduce six proprietary Chinese medicines.
Xiao Chai Hu granules, which are effective in “clearing heat” and have the effect of reducing the inflammatory response of the upper respiratory tract;
Wind and Cold Granules, which are effective in dispelling cold, and help sweat to get rid of the cold on the body surface;
Tong Xuan Li Lung Pill, with the effect of “relieving cough”, has the effect of improving bronchial function and relieving cough and phlegm;
Fengshi Rizhong Pill, with the effect of “warming the middle”, has the effect of warming the stomach and intestines to restore the digestive function;
Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Liquid, with the effect of “resolving dampness”, has the effect of promoting the flow of Qi and removing dampness from the body;
Xianglian pill, the effect of “anti-diarrhea”, has the effect of inhibiting the growth of gastrointestinal bacteria to eliminate inflammation and thus stop diarrhea.
Knowing these six Chinese medicines, we have the basic “moves” to treat some common colds, either alone or in reasonable combinations. The basic method is “six stances”, which can also be called “one stance and six stances” for colds.
We help you to master this one move six style by giving examples, these examples are real cases.
Example 1, Lao Wang, male, forty years old, is a psoriasis patient. Due to low immunity, he often catches colds and needs infusions every time to solve problems. The other day he had a sudden cold with a body temperature of 38.5°C, generalized fear of cold, muscle aches, and sore throat. The last time I treated my cold with Chinese medicine, I was able to reduce the fever with one payment and recover with two payments.
So I consulted by phone, and because I couldn’t see him face to face, it was inconvenient to prescribe medicine, and I was told to take 2 packs of wind-cold cold granules and 2 packs of Xiao Chai Hu granules, once every 3 hours because I was having a fever, and 3 times a day for another day after the fever subsided. The next time Old Wang came to see Psoriasis, he said that this time the medicine worked very well, eat a body is not cold, the next day the fever went down, than the prescribed Chinese medicine is even more spiritual. I’m depressed! This patient has a bad cold body pain, which is a manifestation of external wind cold. The sore throat is a manifestation of the wind-cold entering the internal localized heat, giving the wind-cold cold granules to dispel the cold and Xiao Chai Hu Hu granules to clear the heat, the patient’s symptoms quickly relieved until cured. This is one of the most common combinations for treating the common cold —- “external cold and internal heat”.
Case 2, Auntie Li, in her sixties, was hospitalized for 2 weeks with a lung infection and treated with infusion. At the time of discharge, although the cough was significantly less than before admission, she still had a frequent cough, white sputum in large amounts, and had no appetite, a distended stomach and abdomen, a preference for hot food, and irregular bowel movements. After 5 days, he had only occasional coughing and had a good appetite. This is a combination of Tong Xuan Li Lung Pill to promote the lung and stop coughing, and Fen Zi Li Zhong Pill to warm the middle and strengthen the spleen. According to Chinese medicine, “the spleen is the place where phlegm is produced and the lung is the place where phlegm is stored”. The Pill of Radix Rehmanniae warming the middle and strengthening the spleen can also warm phlegm and dampness.
Example 3, Ms. Sun, female, in her thirties, a junior high school teacher, has the occupational disease of a teacher —- chronic pharyngitis. One day, due to excessive lecturing, he suddenly developed swelling and pain in the pharynx and hoarseness. He was given Xiao Chai Hu granules to clear heat and Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Liquid to move Qi and promote pharynx. The sore throat was relieved significantly after a day, and he complained that it was much more effective than using antibiotics. Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Liquid is from the Song Dynasty’s “Taiping Huimin Hodong Bureau Formula”, but actually originated from the Han Dynasty’s “Treatise on Typhoid Miscellaneous Diseases” with the function of promoting qi, resolving dampness, and promoting pharyngeal expectoration.
Example 4: Li Daniang, a woman in her sixties, was traveling and had a sudden onset of abdominal pain and diarrhea with a low fever due to an unclean diet. Fortunately, she listened to my good advice and brought with her Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Liquid and Xiang Lian Wan. The next day after taking the medicine the fever subsided and the diarrhea stopped, and he had a very good time. This is a combination of Huo Xiang Zheng Qi liquefying dampness and Xiang Lian Wan clearing heat and stopping diarrhea.
These four examples above are just to throw in the towel. If you are interested, you can take a look at the ancient books that record the prescriptions and medicines. If you can use these six prescriptions flexibly, you will be able to deal with most common colds with Chinese medicine and also some internal diseases.
