Is it serious if the nail is separated from the flesh?

Separation of nail and flesh is often caused by certain diseases, trauma, environmental factors and medication. Most causes do not have a particularly serious effect on the body, and if they do, they are not life-threatening emergencies, the onset of which is often long. Therefore, if the cause is actively sought and treated consistently, some patients will be able to grow new nails within a few months after removing the cause, but the nail plate that has separated from the nail bed may not reattach to the nail bed.
If the cause of the disease is not effectively managed over a long period of time and leads to repeated episodes of separation of the nail from the flesh, there is a risk of permanent damage to the appearance of the nail.
