The purpose of treatment: to ensure the continuity of the Achilles tendon, restore the function of the Achilles tendon; restore the normal “length-tension” relationship of the calf triceps, and improve the quality of life of the patient. If not treated properly, prolonged healing of the Achilles tendon can occur, and in severe cases, it can lead to inability to lift the heel and even limp. Achilles tendon rupture is a common sports injury. The incidence of Achilles tendon rupture is high with conservative treatment. Surgical treatment can ensure the repair quality of Achilles tendon and reduce the incidence of rupture, improve the preoperative examination, exclude contraindications to surgery, and repair the ruptured Achilles tendon to restore the continuity of Achilles tendon. In contrast, advanced age, hyperlipidemia, Achilles tendinitis, history of hormone therapy and delayed treatment after injury are high risk factors for postoperative Achilles tendon infection.
