Spring allergy prevention tips for March

It’s been 10 days since we entered March, and over the past week or so, two major events have taken place at home and abroad, both of which are related to our nationals. One is the outrageous terrorist violence in Kunming, and the other is the missing Malaysia Airlines plane that has disturbed countless people. The patients who come into my office with itchy flushed faces or red flaky skin are the ones that I feel very strongly about. I see several of these patients every day, and most of them are young women. Some wear sunglasses, some wear masks, heavy footsteps reveal a few hints of worry, a few helpless, once bright and clear face, some erythema or flushing, some appear erythematous flakes, or papules papules, or blisters, vesicles oozing, are accompanied by itching or severe itching, some also accompanied by a burning sensation, skin tightness. What is this? It turns out that this is allergic trouble, we are commonly known as facial allergic dermatitis, mainly the human body contact with allergens caused by skin itching, redness, swelling, peeling and other symptoms. However, some of them are acute eczema, some manifest as seborrheic dermatitis, and many others belong to facial recurrent dermatitis. The pathogenesis of allergic dermatitis is complex, is a variety of internal and external triggering factors interacting with the occurrence of allergic reactions, and genetic, immune, physiological and pharmacological mediator response abnormalities, while environmental factors and diet are also very important factors in the development. In March, when the weather turns warm and the earth blossoms, it is a good time to go out for excursions or meet friends. Due to direct factors such as allergy to pollen, cosmetics, or stimulation related to sunlight exposure, warmth, dust, etc., this disease is often seen in spring. At present, western medicine treatment of atopic dermatitis mostly adopts internal antihistamine drugs, corticosteroids for temporary inhibition, such as oral cetirizine, loratadine, epinephrine and other antihistamines, oral hormones, topical solution lotions, emulsions, mud creams, oils, ointments, emulsions and so on. The prolonged or high-dose oral and topical corticosteroid drugs can lead to drug-dependent transformation into hormone-dependent dermatitis. Most commonly, the condition improves after medication, and once the medication is discontinued, the primary lesion at the medication site is aggravated; if the medication is discontinued again, rebound reoccurrences can also cause a series of substance metabolism disorders such as sugar, protein, fat and water-electrolyte, which destroy the body’s defense system and inhibit the immune response capability. According to Chinese medicine, allergic dermatitis is always caused by endowment intolerance, wind, dampness, and heat evil blocking the skin. Due to the innate endowment of intolerance, the skin couples are not solid, easy to feel the external wind, damp and heat evil invasion and the onset of disease. If you do not eat well, eat too much spicy, fatty, sweet, thick and fishy products that move the wind, or eat too much cold, damage the spleen and stomach, the spleen loses its health, dampness is generated from within and turns into heat, which is depressed in the blood, filled in the couples, and develops externally on the skin. Therefore, traditional Chinese medicine attaches great importance to individualized treatment plans, which is also known as “diagnosis and treatment” emphasized by traditional medicine. If the wind is heavy, we should protect the surface to dispel the wind and relieve itching; if it is damp-heat infiltration, we need to clear heat and dampness to relieve itching; if it is spleen deficiency and dampness, we need to strengthen the spleen and remove dampness to relieve itching; if it is blood deficiency and wind dryness, we need to nourish blood and moisten the skin to relieve wind and relieve itching. In the acute stage, we can use Chinese herbal medicines to clear heat and cool the blood to dispel wind, and then decoct the juice and apply cold or spray cold, which can reduce the redness, swelling and itch in just a few days. Some women are prone to recurrent facial erythematous scaling dermatitis every spring, which is known as facial recurrent dermatitis, also known as recurrent flushed desquamative facial erythrodermatitis, facial and neck furunculosis dermatitis. Most occur in the spring and autumn, and often recurrent, can also be seen in men, the lesions are mildly limited erythema, covered with fine bran-like scales, sometimes accompanied by mild swelling, can also occur papules, blisters, vesicles oozing and infiltration, mossy, feel mild itching. The rash can be temporarily pigmented after the rash subsides. When spring returns, everything is revived and the yang energy rises and comes to life. It is recommended that while avoiding allergens, you should try not to eat cold food or drink cold water, especially not to eat ice cream. To strengthen physical exercise, enhance physical fitness, pay attention to diet, early to bed and early to rise, to do in accordance with nature, the unity of heaven and man, it is difficult to invade a hundred diseases, the body Shu and man.
