I. Initial consultation
Patient Xiao Li, a 28-year-old female, was anxious when she came to the clinic. She reported that she had an abnormality on physical examination, and the ultrasound examination showed an enlarged uterus with a well-defined rounded hypoechoic zone. The patient reported that she had no obvious symptoms of discomfort and occasionally had increased leukorrhea, but did not experience prolonged periods or increased menstrual flow. We examined the patient, who had a soft abdomen and an enlarged uterus with a relatively hard texture, so we performed ultrasonography again and found that the patient had a hypoechoic area of about 2×1 cm in the uterus, which was diagnosed as uterine smooth muscle tumor.
II. Treatment history

The patient was given Gui Zhi Fu Ling capsule orally to activate blood circulation, resolve blood stasis and eliminate the symptoms, and was asked to visit the hospital regularly to observe the changes of the tumor.
III. Treatment effect
After 1 month of treatment, the patient came to the outpatient clinic for review and reported that the discomfort was reduced and the leukorrhea rarely occurred. After 2 months of medication, the patient came to the clinic again for a follow-up examination. At that time, the phenomenon of leucorrhea had completely disappeared, and there was no discomfort after taking the medication.
IV. Notes
We are glad that after active conservative treatment, the patient’s symptoms improved and the tumor disappeared. I was also very pleased to see the patient’s tense emotions relaxed. However, since uterine smooth muscle tumors are often prone to recurrence, patients need to pay attention to the following points during treatment and after healing.
1. In daily life, it is recommended to have a light diet, avoiding spicy and stimulating diet as much as possible, and can eat more fresh vegetables and fruits.

3, should regularly review ultrasound, especially when there is abnormal menstruation, more timely review, to prevent the recurrence of uterine smooth muscle tumor.
V. Personal insight
Many people are especially afraid when they hear that they have uterine smooth muscle tumor, but in fact, uterine smooth muscle tumor is a relatively common benign tumor in women in the clinic.
For patients with no symptoms and small uterine smooth muscle tumors, no special treatment is usually needed, only regular observation of changes in the tumor is required, and the tumor can shrink and symptoms disappear after menopause. For patients with mild symptoms and small tumors, if they have fertility requirements, they only need to follow medical advice and use drugs regularly, like the patient in this case, who is actively treated with drugs to shrink the tumor and has no abnormalities in regular checkups.
Only when the tumor is larger and the symptoms are more serious, patients usually need to actively undergo surgery, but most of them have a good prognosis and there is no need to be overly afraid and worried.
