Can squeezing a pimple cause an intracranial infection?

It is possible to squeeze a pimple to cause intracranial infection, especially in the danger triangle. This is because pimples are often accompanied by Staphylococcus aureus or Staphylococcus epidermidis infections with purulent inflammation. The veins in the triangle lack venous valves, and if the pimples are squeezed hard, bacteria may enter the skull retrograde with the veins, leading to intracranial infections, commonly purulent meningitis. Patients will have headache and fever, often with temperature as high as 39°C or even 40°C, sometimes accompanied by nausea and vomiting, which can be jet-like. Examination is positive for signs of meningeal irritation. A lumbar puncture is given, which can reveal a marked increase in cerebrospinal fluid pressure. Taking cerebrospinal fluid for biochemical and routine examination often reveals a marked increase in white blood cell count, thousands of cells, elevated protein, and decreased sugar and chloride.
