Chinese medicine classifies acne into wind-heat syndrome of the lung meridian, damp-heat syndrome of the stomach and intestines, and phlegm-dampness stagnation syndrome. Chinese medicine can be used to treat the symptoms with Pei Pa Koa Lung Cleansing Drink, Yin Chen Artemisia Soup, Er Chen Tang and Tao Hong Si Wu Tang respectively.
1. Itchy and painful rash with red color, accompanied by thirst and desire to drink, constipation, short and red urine (small amount of urine, dark yellow color), etc., usually identified as wind-heat syndrome of the lung meridian. It is usually recognized as wind-heat syndrome of the lung meridians. It consists of Sang Bai Pi, Huang Lian, Loquat, Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Radix Paeoniae Alba and Rhizoma Dampiflorae.
2. If there are pustules on the skin surface, red, swollen and painful rashes, greasy face, accompanied by bad breath, constipation, yellow urine, etc., it is mostly due to damp-heat syndrome of the stomach and intestines, which can be treated by adding subtractions of Artemisia capillaris (Artemisia capillaris) Tang. Ingredients are artemisia capillaris, gardenia, scutellaria, cypress, rhubarb, dandelion, coix seed, plantain, glycyrrhiza glabra and so on.
3. Rash with dark color, nodules, scars, difficult to heal, accompanied by abdominal distension and nausea (no appetite, reduced food intake), usually belongs to phlegm-dampness stagnation syndrome. Treatment with Er Chen Tang combined with Tao Hong Si Wu Tang. The formula includes Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Poria, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Radix et Rhizoma Pinelliae, Radix et Rhizoma Citri Reticulatae, etc.
