Generally, treatment involves treating the primary cause of the blurred eyes, such as diabetes, hypertension or systemic disease, but these primary causes cannot be cured and can only be controlled by medication, and once the primary cause progresses, the resulting eye lesions can also worsen or recur. In the case of lesions of the eye itself such as cataracts, most do not recur after surgery. However, there is a small number of cases where recurrence is possible. Posterior capsular clouding, or posterior cataract, is related to the way in which the cataract surgery was performed and also to the type of cataract. In the case of congenital cataracts, due to the high regenerative capacity, even if a few cells of the lens are preserved during surgery, this may cause regeneration and lead to recurrence of the cataract, producing a posterior cataract.
