Science of myopia prevention and control

  When a teenager is diagnosed with myopia after standard optometry steps, how to choose the right treatment to slow down the development of myopia is the concern of every parent. The following is a description of the relevant myopia control issues that have been discussed in the academic ophthalmology community: 1. Improve the visual environment: no reflections on the blackboard, good writing posture, 40-50 minutes of homework should be rested and far away, do eye exercises, do not read or write while walking, riding in a car, lying down and in direct sunlight or dark light, use a writing lamp when working, reduce the duration of continuous work, increase outdoor activities, comprehensive nutrition No partial food, picky eating, which is the basis of all means of correction.  2, drugs such as atropine, tropicamide class of drugs, its relaxation of regulation is fast and obvious, is used to identify the true and false myopia of the unified method. The hypocretin eye drops can release the ciliary muscle spasm and promote the improvement of vision. High levels of adolescent myopia can be treated with IOP-lowering drugs.  3.Keratomileusis A reversible non-surgical method that gradually flattens the curvature of the central cornea through specially designed corneal contact lenses and increases the refractive power of the corresponding periphery, thus reducing the myopia and improving the naked eye vision, generally worn only at night while sleeping, but still requires long-term maintenance wear after achieving the purpose of correction to consolidate the correction of myopia. Correction is generally available for ages 8-40 years; a review of the relevant SCI literature from 1997-2009 showed that its effectiveness exceeded 90%. The general myopia is below -6.00D and astigmatism is not more than 1/2 of the myopia; dry eyes, eyelid abnormalities, high eye pressure and other diseases can be excluded before wearing, and only regular medical institutions are qualified to fit.  4.Compared with soft lenses, ordinary RGP (rigid corneal contact lenses) can provide higher visual acuity and lower emmetropia. It can effectively improve the irregularity and asymmetry of the conical cornea and the shift of the visual axis, substantially eliminate corneal astigmatism and higher-order aberrations such as emmetropia and spherical aberration, thus improving the central vision and the contrast sensitivity in the middle and high frequency bands.  5.Growing up with the lenses: the German company Zeiss uses “peripheral vision control” to launch the myopia precision lenses, the Zhongshan Eye Center in China has proven that this innovative lens can slow down the development of myopia in Asian children with at least one parent with myopia by 30% on average.  6. Chinese medicine uses auricular pressure to treat myopia in adolescents. The method is mainly based on nourishing the liver, spleen and heart, stimulating the meridians, increasing blood circulation, improving muscle nutrition to relax the spastic and fatigued ciliary muscle and extraocular muscles, enhancing their regulating ability and the elasticity of the eyeball wall, filling the eye with blood and nourishing the eyes, thus improving and restoring normal vision. It has been verified that it can unblock the meridians, harmonize the qi and blood, adjust the function of the internal organs, dredge the liver and brighten the eyes, and benefit the brain and vision.
