There are no significant side effects of anti-VEGF injections, but because the drug is injected intraocularly, it can easily cause intraocular infections if not done properly. For patients with bleeding tendencies such as abnormal coagulation or low platelet count, intraocular injections may cause bleeding and there is a risk of retinal detachment. There are therefore also significant risks associated with the use of anti-VEGF drugs, which are generally unlikely to occur, but are still present.
