Patients with untreated hyperthyroid heart disease should avoid heavy physical work, take rest and seek immediate medical attention. After treatment, the heart mostly returns to normal and therefore daily work is not affected. However, if the patient has had the disease for a long time or has irreversible damage to the heart itself, the heart may not recover completely and heavy work should be avoided as much as possible.
