What are some questions about abdominal pain during early pregnancy?

Often, newly pregnant mothers come to us with apprehension, saying that they have frequent stomach pains and are worried if there is something wrong with their child. After careful questioning, it turns out that it is actually not that serious and the subsequent pregnancy goes smoothly, so it is necessary for us to talk about abdominal pains during early pregnancy. First, let’s take a look at the descriptions of the mothers. Many pregnant women feel like the state before menstruation, “I always feel like I’m going to have my period, but I’m not coming”; some pregnant women feel that the left side of their belly is uncomfortable at one time, and the right side at another time, or that they have “pain running around”. The common expression is “I feel uncomfortable, but I can tolerate it”, and the expression is relaxed, and even with a smile. Do you think this can be called “abdominal pain”? I would tell her that you can call this abdominal discomfort and it is not really abdominal pain. What is the cause? On the one hand, it’s caused by the fact that after pregnancy, the uterus starts to fill up with blood and enlarge in order to adapt to the needs of the growing fetus, which causes pressure on the surrounding tissues and organs, such as the bladder and rectum. Do I need to deal with this condition? Since it is a normal reaction to pregnancy, most people can tolerate it, so there is no need for special treatment, nor is there a need to rush to the doctor. If you feel uncomfortable, you can take a break and the discomfort will soon pass. If you have bad stools with acid reflux and frequent hiccups, you must pay attention to your diet, eat fewer and more frequent meals, increase your fiber intake, and toileting regularly, as your stools improve, your abdominal discomfort will improve accordingly. So what is real abdominal pain? On the one hand, subjectively, you should have the feeling of pain, at the same time, you may have frowning, cold sweat, dizziness, blurred eyes, can’t stand upright, need to bend down, even squat or lie down, can’t continue what you are doing, such as work has to be forced to stop, can’t listen to good music, wake up in pain in sleep, etc., and people around you can feel that you are not comfortable, these situations are real pain, not only in the verbal expression of “pain”, and there are expressions and signs of pain, this is when there is real abdominal pain and you really need to see a doctor. The next reaction is likely to be to run to the doctor with a nervous face and ask “doctor, am I having an ectopic pregnancy, am I having a miscarriage”. With all the information and advice available, everyone knows about ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, fetal abortion, and even trophoblastic disease, and some discomfort is thought of as such. I would say that the presence of significant abdominal pain may be related to these conditions, but as a patient, it is more important to focus on how uncomfortable you feel, which is what your doctor says “what symptoms you have”, rather than needing you to diagnose what exactly is wrong with your patient. Your doctor will want you to come in with a clear and detailed history, including: (1) Your last menstrual period, previous menstrual periods, pregnancy and childbirth, and birth control. (2) The details of the abdominal pain, such as when it started, the degree of pain, how it was relieved, or under what circumstances it was relieved or worsened, and any accompanying conditions, such as bleeding, dizziness, cold sweats, panic attacks, etc. (3) Previous relevant medical history, allergy history, surgical history and family history, etc. (4) Bring the records of previous visits and laboratory test reports so that the doctor can help you make a judgment and give treatment recommendations as soon as possible. Abdominal pain can have different degrees. Do not think that if there is no vaginal bleeding, it is not serious. If the pain is obvious and accompanied by panic, cold sweat, dizziness and other manifestations, it means that the condition is serious and there is a possibility of intra-abdominal bleeding, so you need to get an emergency number to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Through the above, pregnant mothers have a certain understanding of abdominal pain, do not put themselves into the abdominal pain team, most of them belong to the lower abdominal discomfort, is a normal pregnancy performance, appropriate rest, improve diet and bowel movements, I believe that we will successfully pass this stage.
