Pregnancy feels like a period

It may be normal to have a feeling like menstruation after pregnancy. Early pregnancy is a normal early pregnancy phenomenon due to the change of the pregnant woman’s body state and the rapid development of the fetus which may easily cause a slight pulling pain in the abdomen, like the feeling of having a period. The pain is only occasional, short-lived and not strong, and there is no obvious vaginal bleeding, and usually disappears gradually around 40 days after menopause. It usually disappears around 40 days after menopause. No additional intervention is usually needed in this case, as the pregnant woman only needs to maintain good nutrition, relax and go to the hospital for regular maternity check-ups. If there is a persistent feeling of menstruation and vaginal bleeding during pregnancy, then we should consider whether it is caused by pre-eclampsia or ectopic pregnancy: 1. Pre-eclampsia: the first symptom is often vaginal bleeding, which is usually small, often dark red, or bloody leucorrhea, and may be accompanied by mild lower abdominal pain or back pain, similar to the feeling of menstruation. Pre-eclampsia miscarriage should be treated with proper rest and sexual intercourse is prohibited. For example, progesterone can be injected for luteal insufficiency, and small doses of thyroid tablets can be taken orally for low thyroid function. After treatment, if the fetus is still alive after ultrasound examination, the pregnancy should be continued. If HCG continues not to rise or decrease, the pregnancy should be terminated; 2. Ectopic pregnancy: for example, before miscarriage or rupture of tubal pregnancy occurs, due to the gradual enlargement of the embryo in the fallopian tube, there is often hidden pain or soreness in the lower abdomen, which will make the pregnant woman feel like she is on her period. Western medicine treatment mainly involves the use of methotrexate; surgical treatment requires the selection of an appropriate surgical method according to the patient’s fertility needs. If a pregnant woman feels like having a period, she should not take it lightly. It is recommended to go to the hospital for relevant examinations to exclude the possibility of pre-eclampsia and ectopic pregnancy, and if it is clearly ectopic pregnancy or pre-eclampsia, it can also be dealt with in time. At the same time, it is necessary to pay attention to the side effects of methotrexate during the treatment of ectopic pregnancy to prevent the decrease of white blood cells, and to choose the appropriate surgical treatment based on the patient’s fertility needs as much as possible.
