Is penile erection worthy of attention

The pathological “golden gun”, also known as abnormal penile erection, refers to a state of persistent erection of the penis that has nothing to do with sexual desire and sexual stimulation, the penis continues to erect for more than 4 hours and does not subside; abnormal erection patients often have local swelling and pain and difficulty in urination, which can last for hours, days or longer. Such a “golden gun” is exceptionally painful and uninteresting. Abnormal penile erection is a relatively rare pathological erectile state that can occur at any age and can cause serious consequences such as erectile dysfunction, penile cavernous fibrosis and penile malformation. It is divided into ischemic and non-ischemic, of which ischemic abnormal erection is more common. When abnormal penile erection occurs, a large amount of blood accumulated in the penis cannot flow out and gradually develops into a state of ischemia and hypoxia as time lengthens, the penis will gradually become edematous and eventually lead to permanent damage to penile tissue and function. Some somatic diseases such as sickle cell anemia, leukemia, spinal cord injury, prostate cancer, melanoma, and rabies can thicken the blood or cause red blood cells to lose elasticity and mobility, which may lead to abnormal penile erection. Once an abnormal penile erection occurs, do not avoid treating it as soon as possible and avoid having an erection lasting more than 4-6 hours, let alone more than 12 hours. Studies have shown that once the penile corpus cavernosum has been ischemic for more than 12 hours, the chance of tissue necrosis is more than 90%. A stepped approach to treatment is generally recommended for abnormal penile erections, starting with intra-penile injection of vasoconstrictive drugs to weaken the penis. Another common method is penile cavernous aspiration and bleeding, which slowly sucks out the blood accumulated in the penis, sometimes combined with saline flushing of the penile corpus cavernosum, until the penis is completely weak. If these methods do not work, surgery should be performed as soon as possible. Abnormal penile erection is relatively rare and may cause permanent damage to penile tissue and function, so awareness of the disease, early and timely diagnosis and effective management can significantly reduce the damage caused by the disease and prevent and reduce complications.
