Jaundice due to bile duct obstruction Interventional relief

The Fourth Central Hospital of the city recently received a senior patient with obstructive jaundice caused by advanced pancreatic head cancer. Doctors treated her with an interventional approach and placed a biliary stent, after which the patient’s jaundice disappeared. A 75-year-old woman suffering from hypertension, coronary heart disease and diabetes for many years was recently found to have advanced pancreatic head cancer with severe obstructive jaundice and liver metastasis, and received radiotherapy, chemotherapy and comprehensive medical treatment, but her symptoms still worsened day by day, with yellow skin all over her body, accompanied by itchy skin all over her body and difficulty sleeping, which seriously affected her quality of life. After examination, the doctor found that because the patient was old, frail, sick and had poor liver function, traditional open surgery was risky and conservative treatment could not solve the problem, so it was decided to use the interventional minimally invasive surgery of percutaneous hepatic bile duct drainage + endoprosthesis implantation, that is, under the guidance of medical imaging equipment, a guide wire was inserted into the intrahepatic bile duct using a micro puncture needle through the skin and liver, and a bile drainage tube was placed to drain the bile outside the body. A bile drainage tube is placed to drain the bile outside the body to improve liver function; at the same time, a biliary stent is placed to hold open the bile duct at the narrowed obstructed area in order to release the biliary obstruction and internal drainage of bile. After the operation, the patient’s jaundice symptoms gradually disappeared and the quality of life was significantly improved. According to Cui Kai, deputy chief physician of the Fourth Central Hospital, the malignant obstructive jaundice like the one suffered by Li Danyang is a common complication in the late stage of malignant tumors of the digestive tract, mostly caused by liver cancer, bile duct cancer, pancreatic cancer and other malignant tumors blocking and compressing the bile duct, and if not treated in time, it often leads to biliary tract infection or liver failure leading to death. The main purpose of interventional treatment is to release biliary obstruction, drain bile, reduce biliary pressure, and reduce the backflow of harmful factors such as bile salts or bacterial toxins into the blood, so as to facilitate the recovery of liver function and subsequent treatment of tumor. This method is less invasive, faster recovery, and more effective. It can not only safely and effectively relieve jaundice, but also create conditions for further treatment of malignant tumors, especially for patients who have lost the best time for surgery, or need surgery but cannot tolerate it, and has become one of the important means of treatment for obstructive jaundice.
