The time to return to sport varies greatly depending on the extent of the patient’s cruciate ligament injury, the extent of the combined injury, the type of surgery, the choice of graft, and the level and experience of the rehabilitator.
If the cruciate ligament injury is mild and there are no obvious tears or other conditions, early rehabilitation and functional training of the knee joint can result in a return to normal sports in about three months.
If the cruciate ligament is more severely damaged or even completely torn, it will need to be repaired through surgical reconstruction, etc. The treatment and rehabilitation time will be extended depending on the surgeon’s level, skill and whether the rehabilitation is regular.
Doctors will develop a rehabilitation plan to suit the patient’s condition and patients should build up confidence in their treatment, remain positive and optimistic, follow the rehabilitation plan and stick to the knee function recovery exercises during the recovery period.
