Take medication in advance to prevent pollen allergies

It’s springtime again, and Xiao Li is worried again. Because of pollen allergy, she sneezes non-stop, her nose can’t stop flowing down, and she often wakes up at night because her nose is not ventilated, and her throat is itchy. This is a typical pollen allergy symptom for Xiao Li. To get rid of pollen allergy, two things must be done: first, to strengthen prevention, that is, to find out allergens, try to avoid allergens, including away from the allergic environment, get rid of allergic pollen drifting concentrated geographic area (the general public this point is difficult to do); second is the correct diagnosis and treatment, take anti-allergy drugs in advance and timely desensitization treatment. Allergic reactions caused by inhalation or contact with certain pollen are called hay fever, which generally develops more in spring and autumn. The most obvious symptoms are itchy eyes, nose, ears and throat, continuous sneezing, runny nose and red eyes. In severe cases, coughing and wheezing may occur. It manifests as allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and bronchial asthma. A few patients develop itchy skin, patchy bumps or even headache and shock. Once the above symptoms appear, medication should be used immediately and should never be left to chance. Symptoms are usually reduced in two or three days with oral anti-allergy medication. For people with a history of allergies, attention should be paid before the flowering season, and treatment should not be started until the onset of the disease. Nowadays, many anti-allergy drugs have not only a therapeutic effect, but also a preventive effect. Therefore, in early spring and late summer, when pollen is not yet “rampant”, people with a history of pollen allergy can start taking anti-allergy medication one to two weeks in advance. At present, most of the anti-allergy drugs on the market are similar in efficacy, with antihistamines being the main ones. For example, loratadine tablets, a long-acting antihistamine, are used to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, such as sneezing, runny eyes, itchy eyes, etc. They can also be used to relieve various other allergy symptoms, and these drugs are really effective, safe and reliable. It is important to note that most oral anti-allergy medications may cause drowsiness. Pollen allergy can be cured. Allergy treatment cannot be coped with for two days a year and left alone once the symptoms disappear. In fact, allergens can be detected in 80-90% of patients, and allergy treatment with allopathic desensitization, i.e. immunotherapy, can interrupt the process of allergic disease and prevent the occurrence of new allergies. After standardized desensitization treatment, there is hope for the eradication of allergies. Patients with a history of allergies can be completely rid of allergic diseases by taking medication and desensitizing under the guidance of a doctor early. It should be added that many doctors and most patients mistakenly treat hay fever as “cold”, which are two different diseases with different pathogenesis, disease process and consequences, and it is sometimes difficult to distinguish them. The “cold” is an obvious self-limiting disease, which means that most colds can be cured in a few days without treatment, but allergies are frequent and can have a variety of comorbidities after long-term recurrence, and a few serious cases can be life-threatening, so they should not be taken lightly.
