Congenital Eyelid Defects

A congenital eyelid defect measuring approximately 1/2 the length of the eyelid, with incomplete closure, temporal and inferior dermatomal lipomas, and bilateral appendages. The eyelid defect was repaired and a large portion of the dermatomal lipoma was removed, as well as the bilateral appendages. At one week after surgery, the child’s eyes were already open and nearly normal, with a small gap when closed. The top two photos show the eyes open and closed before surgery; the bottom one is one week after surgery.
