Young children are prone to foreign bodies in the gastrointestinal tract. If the child swallows a round blunt object within the size of a “two-cent” coin by mistake, treatment is not necessary if the child is not in discomfort and drinks and eats as usual. If the foreign body is a round blunt object more than the size of a nickel, abdominal X-ray or X-ray should be taken to observe the location of the foreign body dynamically. If the foreign body is immobile at the pylorus, it can be clamped out by fiberoptic gastroscopy for more than 2 weeks. If a child is afraid to swallow saliva on the day of accidental swallowing, do not force swallowing food, and go to the hospital for emergency care, because the foreign body is likely to be stuck in the food and needs to be removed in time. If a pointed foreign body such as a small nail is accidentally swallowed, there is usually no danger if the long axis does not exceed 2 cm, but intensive observation is required. First note the presence of blood in the pediatric pharynx; try to eat a small amount of food or swallow saliva slowly, if there is no abnormality, you can enter the normal diet, but do not need to eat leeks and other multi-fiber food specifically. Pay attention to the presence of abdominal pain, observe the child’s stool from the day after swallowing the foreign body by mistake, flush with water in the potty if necessary, and follow the doctor’s instructions regularly to prevent the foreign body from getting stuck in the rectum above the anus. There is a certain risk of accidentally swallowing a “button battery”. This is because button batteries contain strong alkaline components and mercury oxide. After swallowing a button battery into the stomach, the contents of the battery may spill out due to the destruction of stomach acid, which may corrode the mucous membrane or cause perforation of the digestive tract. Therefore, those who swallow button batteries by mistake are confirmed by fluoroscopy and need to be removed by fiberoptic gastroscopy as soon as possible.
