Ganciclovir does not treat warts. Ganciclovir is an antiviral medication that is used primarily in organ transplant recipients who may be at risk for cytomegalovirus infection and for the treatment of cytomegalovirus retinitis that occurs with immune deficiency. Warts are caused by human papillomavirus infection, and ganciclovir has no effect on human papillomavirus. There are no specific antiviral drugs for warts. Physical therapy (laser, cryotherapy), topical medications (imiquimod cream, tincture of onychomycetin), and immunomodulators (interferon, thymopeptide, and transfer factors) are the mainstays of treatment. If you have warts, you should first go to the hospital for examination, combined with clinical symptoms and follow the doctor’s instructions to use medication, to avoid abusing the drug themselves.
