Artificial hip for young patients

The patient, Mr. Tang, male, 37 years old, has been feeling discomfort in his right hip joint for more than 10 years, but he did not go to a regular hospital for treatment. Mr. Tang, a young man, always thought that the disease of femoral head necrosis would only occur in the elderly and was unwilling to accept this fact. And because of the patient’s youth, there is a possibility that he may need a second joint surgery after a few decades in his life expectancy because of the wear and tear of the artificial joint. Recently, Mr. Tang came to the orthopedic department of Wuhan Union Hospital, the only key specialty in Hubei Province, specializing in femoral head necrosis. After a series of detailed inquiries, physical examination and analysis of his relevant examination data, Mr. Tang was diagnosed as having advanced femoral head necrosis, which could not be treated in an early stage and required joint replacement to improve his symptoms and joint mobility, and was recommended to be hospitalized. After patient communication with the patient and his family, careful preoperative discussion and thorough preoperative planning, it was decided to perform a new type of short-stemmed artificial joint replacement for Mr. Tang, an artificial hip joint suitable for young patients. What are the main indications of the new artificial joint? What are its advantages? The new short-stem artificial joint is mainly suitable for young patients who have severe femoral head necrosis but are unable to undergo surface hip replacement. It is another choice for young patients with osteonecrosis of the femoral head, which greatly reduces postoperative complications and shortens the recovery time.
