The brain is the supreme center of the nervous system and controls all activities of the body, of which mental activity is the main aspect that distinguishes humans from the general animal population. Therefore, in many cases of intracranial lesions that cause abnormal mental activity in patients, especially lesions located in the frontal lobe of the brain, often simply manifest as abnormal mental activity. It has been reported that about 15-20% of patients with glioma have altered mental status as the first symptom. I can’t remember how many brain tumor patients with mental abnormality as the first symptom I have treated, but in recent time, I have encountered such cases continuously. This not only makes the treatment very difficult, some of them even miss the best time for treatment, some of them also directly affect the family life and work situation. Therefore, I feel it is necessary to briefly introduce this medical knowledge to you. If you find your relatives and friends have similar conditions, you should suggest to go to the hospital for an early examination to exclude the possibility of intracranial lesions. Mental activity changes caused by intracranial lesions mainly include the following aspects: 1, emotional changes, on the one hand, manifested as anxiety, tension, irritability, agitation, in infants and young children as irritable, that is, a very normal external stimulus will cause crying, fussing and other overreaction. On the other hand, the performance is the opposite, manifested as emotional indifference, depression, indifference to everything and indifference, lazy life. 2. Personality change, manifested as a sudden change in personality, such as from the original magnanimity to become calculating, from the original easy-going and cautious to often bad language or full of profanity, and do not care about the environment and the object of speech. 3. Decline in cognitive function, which can be manifested as a decline in spatial judgment, such as often lost and unable to find the door; decline in executive function, unable to successfully complete a task or work; naming difficulties, able to fully name the characteristics and features of an object or person, but unable to correctly name her; decline in memory, mainly manifested as a decline in instantaneous memory or recent memory, can clearly remember many years In addition, there may be a decline in attention, calculation and language logic. In summary, the decline in cognitive function is similar to what is often referred to as dementia. In order to deepen your understanding, I will introduce a few typical cases. Case 1, a male, in his twenties, presented with a headache and was diagnosed with a giant intracranial meningioma. Tracing his medical history, he was forced to drop out of school in middle school because his academic performance became worse and worse. Usually, he was less verbal, simple-minded and unresponsive, and his parents could only help to find a daughter-in-law in the countryside. After the surgery, the patient’s speech increased significantly, his intelligence improved significantly, and he could often utter humorous words. The most interesting thing was that he was also able to tease the nurses in the ward when he was discharged from the hospital. Case 2, a woman, in her thirties, presented with weakness in one limb and was diagnosed with a giant intracranial meningioma. Tracing her medical history, in recent years the patient became irritable and irritable, often quarreled with her family and colleagues, did things in a sloppy manner, was unable to complete a task, and was forced to change jobs several times. After surgery to remove the tumor, the mental symptoms improved significantly and the personality became easy-going. Case 3, a female, in her forties, presented with headache and was diagnosed with intracranial glioma. In recent years, the patient’s personality changed significantly, and she could not see a smile on her face, and she was sentimental, nagging, repeatedly talking about a word or a matter, and she shed tears of aggression when she was slightly dissatisfied, for which she and her husband had divorced. After the surgery to remove the tumor, the patient has a smile on her face every day, and her mood has improved significantly and she is no longer anxious. The above is my introduction of some manifestations and typical cases of abnormal mental activity, just hoping to increase people’s understanding of medical science knowledge, there is no need to take the right place. In fact, everyone has different personality traits, and the abnormal mental activity I am referring to should be directed at the changes that occur in a person himself, rather than comparing different individuals with each other.
