Leukorrhea is a mixture of vaginal mucous membrane exudate, cervical canal and endometrial glandular secretions, exfoliated cells of vaginal and cervical epithelium, and pathogens parasitized in the vagina.
Normal leucorrhea is white, thin, sticky, low in volume, odorless and non-irritating. Abnormal leukorrhea includes abnormal amount, color, quality, taste and irritation. Abnormal leucorrhea includes foamy leucorrhea, curd-like leucorrhea, grayish white or grayish yellow leucorrhea, fishy leucorrhea, purulent leucorrhea, bloody leucorrhea and watery leucorrhea. There can be a transient increase in simple leucorrhea during ovulation, and a short period of bloody leucorrhea after an IUD, which are all “normal leucorrhea abnormalities”. The usual abnormal leucorrhea is considered vaginitis, but it can also be cervicitis, endometritis, tubal effusion, etc., such as excessive leucorrhea, foamy leucorrhea, curd-like leucorrhea, grayish white or grayish yellow leucorrhea, fishy leucorrhea, purulent leucorrhea, etc. In addition, malignant tumors of the reproductive system may also cause leucorrhea abnormalities, often appearing as purulent leucorrhea, bloody leucorrhea and watery leucorrhea. Therefore, when there is abnormal leucorrhea, you need to go to the hospital in time for examination to clarify whether it is vaginitis or other conditions, so as not to delay the condition and affect the treatment.
