There are many different types of arthritis and related diseases. The most common types of arthritis are osteoarthritis, infectious arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and gouty arthritis.
1. osteoarthritis is when damage occurs to the cartilage of a joint and involves the whole joint, causing joint symptoms.
2. Infectious arthritis is when bacteria, viruses or fungi attack the joints and cause inflammation.
3. rheumatoid arthritis, in which a variety of autoantibodies such as rheumatoid factor and anti-cycloguanine polypeptide antibodies may be present in the patient’s serum.
4. gouty arthritis, in which the body has very high levels of uric acid that cannot be excreted in time, and uric acid then accumulates in the joints and forms crystals, leading to arthritis and gout stone formation.
