What are the symptoms of urethral syndrome

Urethral syndrome is mainly seen in young and middle-aged women. Patients may exhibit irritating symptoms of urinary frequency, urgency, painful urination, and bladder pressure, as well as burning sensation in the urethra and difficulty in urination. Some patients may also exhibit painful pressure in the suprapubic area and pain during intercourse, and burning pain during urination. During physical examination, mucosal edema and adhesions are seen at the urethral orifice, and there is yellowish-white discharge from the urethra. The results of the examination may reveal elevated white blood cells in the urine routine, no significant abnormalities in cystoscopy and ureteroscopy, and no bacterial findings in the urine culture. The cause of urethral syndrome is still unclear, so the treatment is mainly symptomatic and can be combined with traditional Chinese medicine. Surgical treatment, such as urethral dilatation or urethral release, can also be performed.
