What medications are used to treat hair loss

According to the causes of hair loss, there are common androgenetic alopecia and patchy baldness, and these two types have different ways to correspond to each other. 1. Drugs for treating androgenetic alopecia: Drugs for treating male pattern baldness include Finasteride and Minoxidil tincture; while Minoxidil tincture is one of the few drugs that can be used to treat female pattern baldness. Finasteride is an oral medication that is intended for men only because it blocks the conversion of the hormone testosterone. It needs to be taken continuously for 3 to 6 months or longer, and if treatment is stopped, hair loss will start again. Minoxidil tincture is used as a topical solution for both men and women and is applied directly to the scalp. It needs to be used continuously for several months before it becomes effective, and if treatment is stopped, hair loss will recur. 2. Drugs for treating baldness: There are no drugs that can improve baldness, but there are experimental studies on injecting corticosteroid in the lesion, which can stimulate hair regeneration. However, there are many side effects, including increased risk of localized infections, headaches, joint pain, and so on. It is therefore not approved for therapeutic use. Minoxidil tincture can also be applied topically. Prompt medical attention and standardized treatment is recommended.
