Can rhinitis cause hoarseness?

Rhinitis does not cause hoarseness. There are many symptoms of rhinitis, the more common ones being poor nasal ventilation, runny nose, sneezing, and possibly loss of smell, headache, dizziness, and in some patients, nasal reflux, nasal discharge with blood, and irritating cough. There are individual differences in the specific symptoms, which are related to both the type of rhinitis and the severity of the patient’s condition. There are also many causes of hoarseness. The more common cause is laryngitis, which may also be caused by excessive use of the voice. Some patients also suffer from vocal cord diseases, such as vocal cord polyps, vocal cord nodules, vocal cord sulci, and vocal cord incomplete closure. A small number of patients have laryngeal cancer, hypopharyngeal cancer, esophageal cancer, lung cancer, and thyroid cancer, which require timely diagnosis and treatment.
