How to choose dentures?

  In general, dentures can be divided into three categories – removable, fixed and implant dentures, and each type of denture has its own indications and characteristics.  Removable dentures (commonly known as removable dentures) These dentures are fixed in the mouth by means of rings, etc., and can be removed and worn by the patient.  Advantages: wide range of indications, less removal of natural tooth tissue, relatively low cost.  Disadvantages: the size of the abutment is large, the patient is not easy to adapt; after meals and before bedtime need to remove the denture cleaning, always some inconvenience; exposed rings affect the aesthetics.  Fixed dentures (commonly known as fixed dentures) These dentures are cemented in the mouth by adhesives and cannot be removed by the patient.  Advantages: close to natural teeth, almost no foreign body feeling; can better restore chewing function; good aesthetic effect.  Disadvantages: more natural tooth tissue adjacent to the gap needs to be removed; higher requirements for indications; higher costs.  Implant denture (commonly known as dental implants) This type of denture is first implanted into the alveolar bone of the missing tooth site, and then after a period of time, the fixed or movable denture restoration is completed in the upper part of the implant.  Advantages: In addition to the advantages of fixed dentures, it does not require the removal of the natural tooth tissue adjacent to the gap; it expands the indications for fixed dentures.  Disadvantages: higher requirements for general health and oral health; longer treatment course; high cost.  Each denture (dentures) has its advantages and shortcomings, the doctor will provide treatment plans or recommendations according to the specific conditions of the patient, the patient can choose the appropriate denture according to their own conditions, living habits and economic status.
