In outpatient clinics, we often encounter parents who rush to bring their children to the doctor, saying that our baby has a fever, and once asked, they take a temperature of 37.4 degrees. Normal body temperature is also influenced by many factors. The normal value of pediatric body temperature is not entirely consistent, because the normal body temperature can change with the influence of various factors: 1. body temperature can vary with gender, age and race; 2. normal body temperature is affected by day and night and seasonal changes, with the lowest body temperature in the early morning and the highest in the afternoon to evening; the body temperature is slightly higher in summer, with an average of 36.9 degrees in the morning and 36.6 degrees in the other three seasons; 3. 3. feeding, after meals, exercise, crying, too thick clothing and room temperature can make children’s body temperature rise up to about 37.5 degrees (axillary table); 4. anal table temperature measured than the oral table about 0.3 degrees, the oral table temperature measured than the axillary table about 0.4 degrees, this difference becomes less obvious with the increase in body temperature, the three basic consistency in patients with high fever. How long is appropriate to take the temperature. The length of time for temperature measurement also has an impact on the temperature measured, and the temperature measured by the long time is slightly higher. The time for temperature measurement is fixed to 5, 3 and 2 minutes for axillary, oral and anal tables, respectively. The most commonly used clinical table is the axillary table, because it is more convenient and not easy to cause cross-infection. Fever can be classified into 4 categories according to the temperature level. A temperature of <38.0 degrees is considered low fever, 38-39 degrees is considered moderate fever, 39-41 degrees is considered high fever, and ≥41 degrees is considered ultra-high fever, as measured by the axillary table for 5 minutes. Note: The normal body temperature is generally 36-37 degrees. If the body temperature reaches 37.4 degrees or even 37.8 degrees only once, with good general condition and no conscious symptoms, it may not be considered as pathological.
