Does hymenal atresia not cause menstruation?

Patients with hymenal atresia will menstruate, but the blood often fails to pass during menstruation, giving the illusion of non-menstruation, and the inability to pass blood can lead to progressively worse cyclical lower abdominal pain.
It can be diagnosed by ultrasound and is mainly treated surgically, with post-operative attention to wound hygiene and prevention of infection and no special dietary contraindications.
