Post-operative functional exercises for the shoulder joint

  Functional exercises for the postoperative shoulder joint 1. Pendulum clock – circle exercise: bend forward 90° at the waist level and use a table for support. Paddle the body around in a circle to drive the upper limb clockwise 10 times, then counterclockwise 10 times. Do it 3 times a day.  2.Shoulder flexion (active) exercise – hold your hands tightly and raise your upper arms above your head. This can be done in supine or seated position. Keep the elbow as straight as possible. Repeat 10-20 times, 3 times a day.  3. Supported shoulder rotation exercise – Keeping the elbow in the same position on the table and the shoulder joint in the body plane, slide the forearm forward and backward on the table. Repeat 10 times, 3 times a day.  4.”Walking” training (active) exercise – with elbow straight, “crawl upward” on the wall or door frame with your fingers, as far as possible. Last 10 seconds. Repeat 3 times, 3 times a day.  5. Shoulder joint internal rotation (active) exercise – put your hand behind your back and to the opposite side. Repeat 10 times, 3 times a day.  6.Shoulder flexion (active) exercise – Raise the upper arm to the ceiling, keeping the elbow straight. Hold for 10 seconds and repeat 3 times, 3 times a day.  7.Shoulder abduction (active) exercise – palm down, elbow straight, lift the upper arm to the outside. Do not shrug your shoulders, or tilt your body. Repeat 3 times, 3 times a day.
