The LaserPro 810 surgical laser is an extraordinarily sharp blade.

The first surgical laser system “LaserPro 810” was used to perform the first resection of a giant pars falciform meningioma in the superior sagittal sinus. The Department of Neurosurgery has recently purchased and introduced the internationally advanced PhotoMedex LaserPro 810 surgical laser system, in addition to the Cissel Ultrasound Extractor (CUSA) and Imerys 3.0T intraoperative magnetic resonance system. This laser system has several functions such as cutting, hemostasis, vaporization and separation, which can achieve separation and cutting of tumors on the vessel wall while preserving the integrity of blood vessels. Using the PhotoMedex LaserPro 810 surgical laser system in combination with the Sissel ultrasonic suction, the first laser-assisted resection of a giant meningioma adjacent to the pars falciformis of the superior sagittal sinus was successfully completed. The LaserPro 810 laser knife was applied to cut, hemostasis and separation of the tumor root together with the affected dura in situ in one go, avoiding the need to repeatedly cross-use double-strike when using bipolar electrocoagulation. It avoids the time-consuming operations such as electrocoagulation and electrocautery and microscissors cutting. The hemorrhage is greatly reduced after the tumor root is dissected, creating the conditions for subsequent total resection of the tumor, and significantly saving the operative time. The resection of the pars falciformis meningioma of the superior sagittal sinus, approximately 5 cm in diameter, plus hemostasis in the operative field took less than 40 minutes. The key advantage of the LaserPro 810 for meningioma resection is that it cuts through the dura mater at the root of the meningioma like a plaything, and what other tumors are too tough for it to cut! For tough meningiomas, CUSA is sometimes unable to help, and even the microscissors may be worn out and the surgical blades may need to be replaced frequently, so that’s when the LaserPro 810 comes into its own! This surgical laser system can also be used for in situ surgical resection of meningiomas, auditory neuromas, skull base tumors, craniopharyngiomas, pituitary tumors, brainstem and spinal cord tumors in other areas, which will surely bring the level of surgical treatment in neurosurgery to a new level.
