What is the department for intracranial infections?

Intracranial infections are recommended to be listed in the Department of Neurology, or in the case of Chinese hospitals, in the Department of Encephalopathy. Intracranial infection may be due to viruses, bacteria, tuberculosis, fungus, etc. leading to encephalitis or meningitis. Patients often present with headache, fever, dizziness or numbness and weakness of the limbs, hemiplegia, aphasia, and in some severe cases, seizures or continuous status epilepticus. For intracranial infection, lumbar puncture should be performed to identify the causative organism, and the patient should be treated with drugs for dehydration and reduction of intracranial pressure, such as mannitol, glycerol fructose and furosemide. If the patient has severe cerebral edema, albumin and adrenocorticotropic hormone can also be used. The patient should also be given vital signs support and temperature control to avoid fever and convulsions, as well as nutritional support.
