Efficacy and effects of roxithromycin capsules

Roxithromycin is a newly marketed macrolide antibiotic in China, which has a high drug concentration in polymorphonuclear leukocytes and macrophages after absorption, thus enhancing the adhesion and chemotaxis of these two cells, which can act as phagocytosis and lysis of bacteria when the organism is infected. The in vitro antibacterial activity of roxithromycin is similar to that of erythromycin. It is mostly used clinically for respiratory system infections, eye, ear, nose and throat infections, genitourinary system infections and skin infections caused by the above sensitive bacteria. Roxithromycin is acid-resistant, not easily destroyed by gastric acid, and well absorbed in the intestinal tract, so it is suitable for oral administration. The main indications for roxithromycin are infections of the five senses, respiratory tract, genital tract and skin caused by sensitive bacteria. It has similar efficacy to other macrolides for pediatric infections and skin and soft tissue infections. It is indicated for the following infections caused by sensitive strains, upper respiratory tract infections, lower respiratory tract infections, ear, nose and throat infections, genital infections (except gonococcal infections), skin and soft tissue infections, and also for mycoplasma pneumonia, Chlamydia trachomatis infection and Legionnaires’ disease.
