What is premature ejaculation?

Premature ejaculation (PE), also known as premature ejaculation, is a type of ejaculation disorder. Currently, premature ejaculation is an important cause of male sexual dysfunction. With the progress of human culture, the main goal of human sexual activity is no longer just procreation, but the mutual enjoyment of both partners, which makes the duration of sexual intercourse a focus of attention, making it not only a physiological issue, but also a complex factor involving the sexual harmony of the two sexes and cultural background differences. In recent decades, premature ejaculation has come to be seen as a problem that needs to be treated. So what kind of condition is premature ejaculation? Premature ejaculation can be defined in two different ways: “objective criteria” and “subjective perception”. The objective criteria are based on the actual duration of ejaculation and the number of penile strokes: always or almost always ejaculation or less than 15 strokes before or within about 2 minutes after entering the vagina. Subjective perception is defined as ejaculation before the time “desired” by the man himself or his partner: always or often before, during or after vaginal penetration, i.e., unwanted ejaculation with less sexual stimulation. The definition of premature ejaculation depends mainly on the subjective satisfaction of the individual or partner with the regulation of ejaculation, not only on the time or number of thrusts, and there is a great deal of individual variation in the length of time the penis is held in the vagina or in the degree of personal satisfaction. The scope of adverse effects of premature ejaculation often exceeds the sexual dysfunction itself, adversely affecting self-confidence and the relationship with the sexual partner, leading to mental distress, anxiety, embarrassment and depression, which can affect sexual desire and interest in life, and the partner’s satisfaction with the sexual relationship can further decline as premature ejaculation worsens.
