How many days of rest is usually required for a groin strain?

Groin strains usually require 1 to 2 weeks of rest. Most groin strains are caused by high intensity exercise and indirect external forces, after which the patient should first apply local ice, which can effectively reduce the severity of the strain. Next, the patient should avoid further strenuous activity and rest adequately.
After 3 to 4 days, the patient can be treated locally with physiotherapy such as infra-red light and hot compresses, and can take blood-stasis-boosting medication.
Finally, recovery can be obtained by resting for about 1 more week and functional exercises should be performed early during the recovery period.
