Ear fever with itching is considered to be caused by eczema of the outer ear if it is accompanied by red patches of skin, small papules, blisters and a burning sensation. If it is accompanied by a limited elevation above the front of the ear, which may be accompanied by a feeling of swelling, fluctuation or burning, often without pain, it is considered to be caused by an auricular pseudocyst. In both cases, further medical attention is required.
